What is an Anal Fissure?


An anal fissure is a longitudinal split in the lower end of the anal canal. It extends from the outside, towards the inside up to the dentate line.



What causes an Anal Fissure?


It arises from trauma caused by strained or forceful evacuation of hard stools.

In females, it is seen after normal delivery of a baby.

It is also linked with heavy diarrhea.
