What is Cholecystitis?

It is an acute inflammation of the gall bladder.


Some common causes are:

  • Gall stones

  • Excessive alcohol consumption

  • Hypercholesterolemia

  • Diabetes Mellitus

  • Obesity

  • Cholidocholithiasis

  • Malnutrition

  • Pancreatitis enteric fever

  • periampullary carcinoma

  • parasitic infection (ascariasis)

Symptoms of Acute Cholecystitits Include:

  • Pain in upper abdomen

  • Jaundice

  • Fever

  • Loss of weight

  • Loss of apetite

  • altered mental state

In severe cases,


Hypotension and shock.
